🟡 Magic Eden takes over Ordinals
Magic Eden has recently expanded its presence to the Bitcoin blockchain, taking over Ordinals to establish the first-ever Bitcoin NFT marketplace. This move marks a significant milestone for the popular Solana (and Polygon) NFT platform, which has seized the opportunity to become the first to develop permissionless transfers for these NFTs.
By building a state-of-the-art trading platform for Bitcoin NFTs, Magic Eden is eliminating the need for Google spreadsheets and over-the-counter (OTC) trading desks. This innovative marketplace is poised to revolutionize the way Bitcoin NFTs are traded, providing users with an unprecedented level of convenience and accessibility.
🟡 NFT-gated communities on Reddit
The other day we found out that Reddit was testing token-gated communities where users would need to own a specific NFT in order to access the community's content and participate in discussions.
It remains to be seen how successful these NFT-gated communities on Reddit could be and whether other social media platforms will follow. Nevertheless, it is an interesting development in the rapidly evolving world of NFTs and their applications.
🔵 It’s Solana’s birthday!
Last week on Thursday marked the 3 years anniversary of the creation of the first block on Solana
🔵 What were the most interesting projects from Grizzlython?
With more than 800 projects submitted, Grizzlython officially became the biggest Solana hackathon ever. From a Web3 messaging application and the Tinder for NFTs, to an interface that automates on-chain tasks and a dApp designed for asset delegation from cold to hot wallets, there were many intriguing and innovative projects on display.
You can find the most interesting ones in the thread below
🟢 Bitcoin DeGods
This time, there were no DeLays. They promised a mint last week, and it happened. 535 DeGods, forever inscribed in the Bitcoin blockchain. The initial mint price was 0.444 BTC, but they ended up changing it to 0.333 BTC for the culture
It sold out within 2 minutes and became the number one traded NFT collection on Bitcoin in the first 24 hours, with over $2 million dollars of volume in the first two days and sales of over $100,000. I think we can call this a success.
🟢 Solana NFTs jumping into the Ordinals hype. Bitcoin Monkey Business?
Just like DeGods announced their grand entrance into Ordinals, other Solana NFT projects jumped on the train as well to capitalize on Ordinal’s hype. One of these projects is The Catalina Whale Mixer, who announced their new collection, “Nakamoto Whales”
But they weren’t the only ones. Out of nowhere, without an on-chain vote from HadesDAO, SMB decided it was time to mint stolen NFTs on Bitcoin.
The story is that these 42 monkes were stolen during an Aurory hack a long time ago and they have been separated from the main collection ever since. If DeGods can get away with minting burned NFTs on Bitcoin, why can’t we have Bitcoin Monkey Business as well?
Well, it didn’t go as planned. They were faced with a lot of criticism from Crypto Twitter for using the stolen NFTs and for copying what DeGods had done. So HadesDAO got together and launched a proposal to stop this initiative
At the same time this was happening, MonkeDAO was also putting up a vote about the governance of the DAO and whether they should pursue the buyout, to which the answer ‘Yes’ dominated with a 72.2%. In the case they are not able to fulfill the buyout, a new governance would be preferred for the DAO, involving new NFTs that would replace the current SMBs, separately from the “Monkes” collection
🟢 The Balloonsville rugger, allegedly arrested by UK authorities
Several sources from the Solana ecosystem confirmed that the crypto scammer mentioned in the report below is indeed the infamous Balloonsville rugger, who recently tried to capitalize on The Bastards joke by minting raffle tickets for the SOL he supposedly receive from the Bastards mint
I’m glad that sociopath can’t keep using naive traders to funnel money from the ecosystem into his pockets
